I am a retired UK tax lawyer. I am particularly interested in UK tax and housing policy as I believe these are the most important issues confronting the country at the moment. Our tax system needs to be reformed, to underpin efforts to reduce Britain’s deficit position and to facilitate the redistribution of earnings and wealth to tackle our high levels of inequality. In housing, we face a desperate shortage with many people (particularly the young) unable to obtain adequate accommodation, whether rented or bought, at an affordable price. I will be doing regular posts on these two issues.
